  • Sound healing is an energy healing form that uses frequencies

  • Dickerhoof studied vocal performance, sang in ensembles, and taught piano

She studied vocal performance, sang in ensembles and taught piano before switching her tunes to tuning forks.

“I picked it up and I struck it for the first time and I was like, ‘Whoa. I don’t know what this is, but this is something I need to utilize for the rest of my life,’” Dickerhoof said.

Dickerhoof is the owner of Human Soundcheck, where she uses sounds like tuning forks, sound bowls and gongs to help clients heal from emotional and physical strain. She also helps clients use their own vocal toning and breathing exercises as well.

“We’re pulling energy from below and also from above, and it’s cycling all the way around us all throughout the day. This is something that is just happening and we can’t see it,” she said.

Some clients seek sound therapy to ease issues like anxiety and stress, but for Kathie Perry, it’s simply for relaxation.

“I was able to relax a little bit, but as I had my eyes closed, I was actually able to start seeing all of the chakra colors,” Perry said.

Dickerhoof’s first client was herself.

“It was this like volcano eruption of emotions, a lot of guilt,” she said.

Dickerhoof took a deep spiritual dive after her brother’s failed suicide, left him in a coma with a brain injury shortly after their father’s death. She found comfort in the sounds.

“We can tap in and truly work with our raw energy and heal from big deep pain, and I only wish I could have recognized that for my brother,” she said.

That fuels her passion to help as many people as she can.

“I’m not a therapist. I’m not a doctor. I don’t prescribe anything, but they’re looking for a different kind of prescription,” Dickerhoof said.

She describes it as a remedy that’s already within.

Dickerhooker is offering small group classes on elements of sound healing and vocal toning, chant and meditation. .
